Who We Are
Set’s founding partner, Patrick Moore, is a recovering collegiate rower. The lessons learned from one of sport’s most graceful, yet demanding events, help shape Patrick’s vision for Set’s approach to the market. The art of creating balance, or “set” in a 60’X24” inherently unstable fiberglass boat powered by eight large athletes is no small feat. Add in factors such as wind, current, rough water, and competition and you have a complex environment that makes winning difficult.
Creating a “set” boat amidst uncertainty and adversity enables a team to achieve peak performance. Creating “set” involves constant anticipation of, and reaction to, changing conditions, with each rower making his or her own small adjustments without upsetting the boat. When the boat realizes that perfect balance does not exist, that “set” requires continuous response to external and internal factors, then that team can achieve its full potential.
This philosophy, combined with years of executive experience leading some of the largest and most complex change initiatives undertaken in the government space, Set Consulting seeks to align the needs of its client organizations, the needs of its clients’ customers and all the factors in between that will “unset” the boat. Set Consulting believes that relationships must be win-win, embraces the truth even if it is not something a client might want to hear, and always conducts its operations with the highest levels of integrity.
